EduMOD Query

Hi folks, just a quick query. I have had my 2 x EduMOD (SN#..50055) units for a few months. I've been trying to maintain a constant monitoring and connection to the EduMOD server. Wondering why, it appears I have the greatest muon detection, at the moment it's 26.9 million, where other stations that have more than one EduMOD, for example ARC Dark Matter Centre has 20 EduMOD operating but has only 45.7K detections, currently I run my setup with the two detectors one on top of the other. Also, sometimes I find I drop out of the server yet I'm still logging at this end requiring restarting the logging upload, is there a time out feature imposed or is it just internet falling over?

Cheers

Hi Clint!

Majority of EduMODs are used for classroom based pracs and are not constantly collecting data - hence you are probably collecting the most data out of everyone at your observatory! This includes the Dark Matter Centre - they do not have their EduMODs running but send most of their detectors to rural schools for their awesome outreach program :)

There is one other EduMOD user who is collecting monitoring data (in New Zealand, so not shown on the mNetwork Aussie map). Here is the link if you're intersted to check it out! They have managed to create a cool webpage: https://milky-way.kiwi/muon-detector/

In terms of the server dropping out - do you mean mNetwork or your logging page? If mNetwork - should be okay as it will collect your muon counts even when you are not logged in - you just need to be logging as usual. If you are refering to your logging page - if the computer goes to sleep or Chrome 'pauses' the tab, it can cut off the logging.
